University of Iowa halts practice of sending student information to sheriff

Well, that was fast. Less than one day after the Des Moines Register published an investigative report revealing how the University of Iowa was sharing information on students and employees with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department if they applied for a gun permit, the university has halted the practice while it seeks input from the U.S. Education Department.
