Roberto Acosta reports:

A lawsuit filed against Grand Blanc schools alleges the district illegally shared information on its website about a middle school student who was facing expulsion.

The lawsuit brought by the male student’s parents argues his rights were violated under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA, after details tied to an expulsion hearing were released on the website and viewed by third parties.

An expulsion hearing was scheduled for March 10 regarding the student, with a Grand Blanc Board of Education meeting taking place three days later, per the lawsuit recently moved from Genesee County Circuit Court to U.S. District Court.
