Sen. Dorothy Hukill, R-Port Orange, applauded Gov. Rick Scott for signing a bill Monday that would ban the collection of students’ biometric information

In addition, the legislation will ensure parents and students are notified annually of their rights regarding education records, requires the Department of Education to assign Florida Student Identification numbers to replace the use of Social Security numbers to be used to manage student records, and other student data protections.
