Very reminiscent of the Radio Shack case in the U.S., and hopefully, this will have a similar ending.

Tao Lin reports:

The receiver of Dick Smith is trying to sell the electronics retailer’s customer database, despite promising they would never sell or share customer information.

Receiver Ferrier Hodgson placed an advertisement in a newspaper earlier this week seeking buyers for Dick Smith’s brands, trademarks, customer databases, websites and domain names.

When customers sign up for Dick Smith’s email newsletter, a box pops up asking for their details and at the bottom, it states: “Dick Smith will never sell or share your information. Your private details are safe with us”.
