Who sold out the Constitution?

Roll Call 309 for the Senate vote on S. 1927 is not on the government’s site yet, but”Lamont Cranston” helpfully located an AP report with the roll call. S. 1927 is the bill to expand the use of warrantless surveillance.

A “yes” vote on S. 1927 was to give Bush the authority to fuck over the 4th Amendment some more. A “no” vote was a vote to protect the Bill of Rights (yes, that’s my interpretation of what the votes mean. YMMV.)

You can see how your Representative voted how your Senators voted.

Here’s how the presidential candidates currently in Congress voted:

“No:” Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama
“Yes:” Sam Brownback
“Did Not Vote:” Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, John McCain

  1. Lamont Cranston says:

I’m really curious about those who did not vote. One of my senators didn’t vote and she’s not otherwise excused (i.e. not a Presidential candidate)

  2. dissent says:

Maybe you should email her and ask her why she didn’t vote on this important issue. Looks like she took the weekend off — she missed another vote on the 3rd, although her overall absentee rate is average.

  3. The House vote passed with 41 Democrats going to the dark side. Those are the people you should thank for legalizing Bushworld spying v2.0

  4. dissent says:

Oh no, I don’t discriminate. I will thank everyone who voted for the blasted bill in my own sweet, demure way. Riiiiight. (stop laughing, Lamont!)
