The 110th Congress and Privacy: Week 13 (Mar. 26 – Mar. 30)
The following bills were introduced in Congress this week. Although their full text may not yet be available in Thomas, these bills have all been entered in this site’s Proposed Legislation files for future tracking:
1. A bill to protect information relating to consumers, to require notice of security breaches, and for other purposes. H.R. 1685.
2. A bill to provide support to combat illegal downloading on college and university campuses. H.R. 1689.
3. A bill to improve airport screening and security. H.R. 1690.
4. A bill to require the approval of a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge or designated United States Magistrate Judge for the issuance of a national security letter, to require the Attorney General to submit semiannual reports on national security letters, and for other purposes. 5. A bill to establish guidelines and incentives for States to establish arsonist registries and to require the Attorney General to establish a national arsonist registry and notification program, and for other purposes. H.R. 1759
