The 110th Congress and Privacy: Week 4 (Jan. 22-26)
Here are some privacy-related bills or resolutions that were introduced in Congress this week. These have been added to the Proposed Legislation file so that you can track their status in the future:
1. A bill to prohibit certain abortion-related discrimination in government activities. S. 350.
2. A bill to amend title X of the Public Health Service Act to prohibit family planning grants from being awarded to any entity that performs abortions. S. 351.
3. A bill to ensure that women seeking an abortion are fully informed regarding the pain experienced by their unborn child. S. 356.
4. A bill to prohibit discrimination on the basis of genetic information with respect to health insurance and employment. S. 358.
5. A bill to eliminate the requirement that States collect Social Security numbers from applicants for recreational license. H.R. 611.
6. A bill to implement equal protection under the 14th article of amendment to the Constitution for the right to life of each born and preborn human person. H.R. 618.
7. A bill to permit expungement of records of certain nonviolent criminal offenses. H.R. 623.
8. A resolution expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that Members of the House are not immune from having their offices searched; to the Committee on the Judiciary. H.Res. 88.
9. To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the authority of the Secretary of the Treasury to enter into private tax collection contracts. H.R.695.
